Buried services identified

One of Adelaide’s most experienced team of “location” experts spent a week on site to find and expose existing services along the proposed pipe route in early November 2025. They found abandoned gas pipes, Telstra, NBN, SAPN, SA Water, private drinking water pipes, and non-drinking water pipes. With a few exceptions, NONE of them were where the infrastructure owner’s maps said they would be!

Specialised equipment is needed to expose the services to find the depth and type buried in the road reserve.

First a professional “locator” used ground-penetrating radar and other specialised tools to mark on the ground where services were found. Next the ‘vac-truck’ exposed the services at key spots and regular intervals, and then another team backfilled and recorded the exact location and depth. Finally, a surveyor captured the details using GPS survey equipment.

The boss (Lou) was there to make sure everything was found and recorded properly.
